It’s a pain to try to track individual arrows. Instead, measure arrows by the quiver. After any combat, the player rolls 1d6. On a 1, that quiver is empty.
The same can be done with torches. Rather than counting off six turns, roll 1d6 at the end of every turn. On a 1, it’s time for a new torch.
I use a mechanic called bandages. After a combat, you can heal up one new hit point of damage with your bandages. Then roll 1d6. On a 1, you’re out of bandages.
EDIT: apparently bandages is a thing in 5E. I didn’t know!
